The Ocene ring is constructed of sterling silver and features a cuttlebone cast band and vintage 1970’s abalone shell in the setting.

My Dad’s friend, Walter, lived in the Pacific NorthWest in the 70’s, and used to dive for Abalone Shell before it was banned.  He had a yard of shells, and asked me recently if I would be interested in having some.  They arrived, more beautiful and GIANT than I had anticipated.  The shells’ color faded quite a bit in the sun, but the result is a pearlescent pastel rainbow of color that reminds me of mermaids, unicorns, and a 1980’s dance party.  Thank, You, Walter.  Abalone is really dangerous to work with, so outfitting myself in what felt like a hazmat suit, I was able to get some really perfect round cores out of this shell.  Size 6.25

All Hillary West jewelry is handmade with personally cut stone for inlay, or carefully chosen stones from fellow lapidary artists, or local mines.  Every piece is one of a kind, uses recycled metals, conflict free diamonds, and holds its own personal story.  If a piece calls to you, I truly believe that it guided me in its creation, knowing what your spirit was looking for.
