The Constaline Bangle is inlaid with deep blue Lapis Lazuli and crushed Pyrite. The three sided bracelet includes a cuttlebone cast, and and open space with three 2mm round diamonds set in 14k gold.
I attended a silversmithing retreat at Ghost Ranch in New Mexico in February, 2018 that consisted of an amazing group of twelve women. The amount of knowledge, wisdom, and willingness to share was boundless, and it shifted my life, my business, and my artistry big time. I was able to finish a few pieces while I was there, but this is one of my most favorite. It’s the first time I ever used diamonds and gold, and the essence of the desert is definitely infused right into it. I don’t typically create jewelry in a traditional southwest style, but the mysteriousness of how the southwest feels, and the lessons it always teaches are the winds that influence my work. This bracelet is timeless, classic, elegant, and fun all at the same time. My mentor told me at the very beginning of my career that there are two kinds of jewelry… “That which you can see across a room and gives you all of its information up front, and then that which catches your eye but draws you closer and entices you to look deeper.” My goal is to create the latter. There is always a detail and a story that you won’t know unless you look closely and ask.
All Hillary West jewelry is handmade with personally cut stone for inlay, or carefully chosen stones from fellow lapidary artists, or local mines. Every piece is one of a kind, uses recycled metals, conflict free diamonds, and holds its own personal story. If a piece calls to you, I truly believe that it guided me in its creation, knowing what your spirit was looking for.
